SOCIO-EMOTIONAL SKILLS AS THE BASIS FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND COMPETITIVENESS OF A TEACHER
Abstract
The article analyzes the problem of professional development of a modern Ukrainian school teacher who can act independently and make decisions, realize his creative potential, be mobile and quickly adapt to changes. The development of socio-emotional skills is becoming increasingly important in the modern educational environment, particularly for adult teachers. This contributes to the expansion of their professional competencies and determines the relevance of the problem under study. The aim of the article is to substantiate the complex of social and emotional skills that a teacher must possess in order to prepare students for successful life. Accordingly, two groups of social and emotional skills were analyzed. The first group – get to know your opportunities for interaction with people, which includes the skills of empathy for others, tolerant attitude towards children and adults, management of emotions, teamwork and self-organization. Their development depends on the level of the teacher's social and emotional intelligence. The second group is to develop your capabilities, it includes skills that are important for the professional activity of a teacher: communication, adaptability, leadership and motivation, critical thinking and self-reflection. Both groups of social and emotional skills of a teacher should be developed comprehensively in interaction. The analysis of skills proves that they are important in the professional development and competitiveness of a teacher.
