Archiving Policy

Scientific Works «Adult Education: Theory, Experience, Prospects» ensures the long-term preservation, availability, and recoverability of its published content in order to protect the scholarly record, support stable academic citation, and provide continuous access to journal materials for readers.

1. General Provisions

1.1. All published materials of the journal are archived and preserved as part of the official scholarly record.

1.2. Archiving includes:

  • full texts of articles;
  • publication metadata;
  • bibliographic information;
  • journal issues;
  • where relevant, additional related editorial materials important for preserving the integrity of the publication.

2. Main Archiving Mechanisms

2.1. The journal operates on the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform, which supports tools for the long-term digital preservation of scholarly materials.

2.2. To ensure archiving and possible recovery of content, the journal uses the functions of the OJS platform and supports the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) system, which is intended to create a distributed network for preserving digital scholarly resources.

2.3. With the appropriate technical settings and the participation of partner libraries, the LOCKSS system may be used to create, verify, and restore archived copies of the journal’s published materials.

3. Preservation and Access to Content

3.1. All published articles of the journal are placed on the official journal website and remain available in open access without time limit, unless otherwise required by technical, legal, or ethical reasons.

3.2. The journal’s archiving mechanisms are intended to ensure:

  • preservation of published content;
  • integrity of digital files;
  • availability of metadata;
  • recovery of materials in the event of technical loss, damage, or unavailability of the main copy.

4. Action in Case of Loss or Damage to Content

4.1. In the event of technical loss, damage, or temporary unavailability of published materials, the editorial office takes steps to restore them from available backup or archived copies.

4.2. If a published item is later corrected, updated by an editorial notice, retracted, or otherwise changed after publication, the journal ensures editorial transparency and a clear link between the original publication and the relevant update.

5. Limits of Archiving

5.1. Archiving of published materials does not change the copyright or licence conditions defined in other journal policies.

5.2. Archived copies are used only for preservation, recovery, confirmation of authenticity, and long-term access to scholarly content.

6. Relation to Other Policies

6.1. This Policy is applied together with other journal policies.

7. Final Provisions

7.1. The editorial office periodically reviews its digital preservation practices in view of the technical capacities of the platform, editorial needs, and the requirements for proper preservation of the scholarly record.

7.2. Publication of a paper in the journal means that the author(s) agree that the article and its metadata will be archived for the long term in accordance with this Policy.
