THE COMPONENTS OF PEDAGOGICAL WORKERS’ IMAGE IN HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS OF THE PRC
Abstract
The review article, based on the analysis of scientific research, characterizes the components of the personal image of teaching staff in higher education institutions of the People's Republic of China. The authors take the position that the creation of a positive professional image helps teachers to ensure a successful career, increase the authority of the university and influence its educational environment. It is noted that Chinese scholars interpret the image as a comprehensive view of the appearance, behavior and character of a teacher, which is formed in the minds of students, parents, colleagues and society as a whole. The study found that Chinese scholars distinguish different types of image: external image, language image, behavioral image, teaching image; tolerance, active listening, communication skills, knowledge, etc. Based on the generalization of the image components, the following components were identified: pedagogical ethics (compliance with the law, responsible attitude to work, inner peace of the individual, self-esteem, self-control, cooperation with colleagues, empathy, patience, active listening), knowledge (knowledge of the subject, teaching methods, practical experience in applying knowledge, knowledge of creating a positive atmosphere, knowledge of activating cognitive activity, knowledge of research activities basics (knowledge of scientific literacy, scientific and technical knowledge), educational wisdom, knowledge of innovative activities, systematic knowledge (pedagogical, psychological, physiological knowledge of personality development), pedagogical image (appearance, communication competencies, behavioral image, teaching image), professional abilities (skills: interpretation, reconstruction, communication, body language, board design, diagnosis, scientific literacy). A comparative analysis of the experience of forming the image of teachers of higher education institutions in Ukraine and China is highlighted as a promising area for the further researches.
