PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT OF ADULT TRAINEES IN THE MILITARY EDUCATION OF THE NATIONAL GUARD OF UKRAINE: THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL FOUNDATIONS AND PSYCHOLOGICAL SUPPORT
Abstract
The review article substantiates the andragogical foundations and psychological-pedagogical conditions for the professional and personal development of adult trainees who undergo courses of professional military education (in particular, advanced training courses) in the system of officer training of the National Guard of Ukraine. The empirical basis of the study is the practice of the Department of Professional Military Training of the Centre for Postgraduate Education at the Kyiv Institute of the National Guard of Ukraine. It is shown that under the conditions of the full-scale armed aggression of the russian federation, the typical trainee is a tactical level officer with experience of fulfilling service and combat tasks, or an officer called up under mobilisation, who combines a civilian professional identity with a newly acquired military one. Such a category of learners requires a transition from the traditional military-pedagogical paradigm to an andragogical model based on subject-subject interaction, reliance on life and service-combat experience, and reflection as the mechanism for transforming experience into competence. The leading psychological characteristics of the officer-trainee are identified: the prevalence of external pragmatic motivation while preserving strong internal motivation to master the programme learning outcomes; value restructuring actualised by the experience of war; high requirements for the applied relevance of the educational material. A working typology of trainees according to the level of service and combat experience is proposed, as well as a model of psychological support of the educational process integrating diagnostic, developmental and consultative-supportive components and implemented through reflective workshops, problem-oriented learning, coaching techniques, analysis of service and combat situations, and reflective journals of professional development. Methodological recommendations for andragogue-instructors of professional military training departments are formulated. The practice of training more than four hundred officers is generalised. Particular attention is paid to the integration of andragogical, acmeological and competence-based approaches as the methodological triad of the study.
Key words: andragogy; adult education; psychological support; professional and personal development; tactical level officer; National Guard of Ukraine; professional military education courses.
