CONCEPTUAL IDEAS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF ADULT EDUCATION

Abstract

In the publication, the author considers the development of education and lifelong learning and its important component – adult education as a source of development of individual potential, professional skills, innovation and entrepreneurship. It is noted that the urgency of this issue is caused by the war with russia and the need to retrain staff of enterprises, institutions and organizations; the need for professional training and retraining of persons who lost their jobs due to hostilities; the specifics of adult learning, the number of which, unfortunately, will increase; features of adaptation of adults in the conditions of moving to live in new territories. The factors of positive influence of adult education on modern needs and requirements of an adult are analyzed. A number of conceptual ideas of adult education are considered and characterized, including continuing education, continuing professional education – GPE, further education, recurrent education, community education, adult education, learning organization, learning society and conceptual ideas of adult education in Ukraine. The main directions of development of adult education in Ukraine in accordance with the «Concept of adult education in Ukraine» and the most important conceptual principles of development of adult education are outlined. The focus is on the main provisions of the modern model of adult education in Ukraine. It was found that in the process of active development of adult education increases the diversity of its subject content, types, forms of organization, covering both the professional sphere and leisure of the adult population, increasing the number of adult education providers. It is noted that in Ukraine, despite the active hostilities in the fight against russian aggressors, there are active public discussions on the restoration and further development of lifelong learning and adult education.
