DEVELOPMENT OF DIGITAL COMPETENCE OF GEOGRAPHY TEACHERS BY MEANS OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
Abstract
The review article analyzes the problem of developing the digital competence of Geography teachers using artificial intelligence (AI). Attention is focused on the insufficient development of digital skills of subject teachers, in particular, Geography teachers working with AI. Ways to improve the level of digital competence of Geography teachers using AI in the adult education system are identified, such as: development of advanced training programs for Geography teachers in non-formal education, which provide for the acquisition of practical skills and abilities to use AI in the process of teaching Geography. It is substantiated that mastering AI tools by Geography teachers will increase the level of their digital and methodical competencies. Didactic tools and methodological recommendations for teachers on the use of AI technology in Geography lessons in general secondary education have been developed. Neural networks and AI tools are proposed that allow creating images for any topic of the Geography lesson, associative maps, drawings for program material, 2D and 3D images, image animation, adding sound to photos, video based on text queries, video lessons, presentations, educational cartoons, etc. It is characterized the advantages and disadvantages related to implementation of artificial intelligence in school practice. Specific examples of the use of AI in the process of teaching Geography to students are given and the algorithm of teacher's actions to work with these tools is defined. It is recommended to include the proposed didactic tools and methodological recommendations in the process of developing and implementing advanced training programs for Geography teachers in non-formal education.
