Abstract

Work may be for a person the source of distress and tension lowering their quality of life. The problems of work dehumanisation are linked both to overload of tasks, their emotional effects, as well as to shortage of tasks, professional idleness, unemployment. Pathological effects of work may acquire different intensity levels, beginning with common mental work-load up to extreme work overload and professional burnout.
Employee’s professional burnout is a problem that is being faced by majority of institutions and companies. Energetic and committed employees in a relatively short period of time lose their initial zeal, begin to feel emotionally drained; their efficiency decreases and soon they start to improperly address the clients and co-workers, and at last, they reach the conclusion that their vocational choice was a mistake. The employers bear the enormous expenses due to professional burnouts; among the most important ones are those related to letting go experienced employees – severance pays and training for the new workers, sick leave, accidents at work, expenses of actions brought by former employees, law work efficiency.
There are ways to counteract constant, growing stress and symptoms of professional burnout syndrome. Preparation of the managers of various levels for their future work includes the transfer of expert knowledge, teaching of required skills. Among those skills one should find such that relate to counteracting professional burnout.
